Dermaplaning
What is dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a physical exfoliation procedure. It requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently “shave” the skin’s surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair (aka peach fuzz). The procedure can be performed monthly, in less than thirty minutes, with no downtime post-treatment. Dermaplaning is only performed on the face; however, it is not meant to be used to shape eyebrows, which are made up of “terminal” (not vellus) hairs.
Benefits of dermaplaning
Physical exfoliation triggers the cell regeneration process and allows products to better penetrate the skin. Some practitioners perform a chemical peel post-dermaplaning (we wouldn’t recommend this if you have highly sensitive skin). Dermaplaning is also excellent to rid the face of excess fine hairs which can often accumulate dirt and oil. Contrary to popular belief, vellus hairs, as opposed to terminal hair, will not grow back thicker or darker. However, dermaplaning is not suitable for those with excessive facial hair. Microdermabrasion, which also physically exfoliates the skin, does not remove vellus hair. Exfoliation of dead cells along with the removal of fine hairs results in healthier, brighter skin that has a smoother look and feel.
Dermaplaning – FAQs
Q – Will I feel any pain during my treatment
A – Dermaplaning is a very relaxing treatment.
Q – How often can I have Dermaplaning?
A – Most people choose to have Dermaplaning once a month as part of their skincare routine.
Q – Can I have Dermaplaning if I have sensitive skin?
A – Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types except those with active breakouts and men with heavy facial hair. If you have active acne, we can offer alternative treatments that would be more beneficial. As always discuss any allergies or skin sensitivities before starting a treatment.

PureDerma & SkinPen Microneedling
Micro-needling is a revolutionary treatment that smooths out wrinkles, helps erase scars, skin lesions and stretch marks for that perfect, bright complexion? Micro-needling tightens, lifts and rejuvenates your skin to give a natural and youthful complexion.
How it works
Over time collagen, a natural substance present in our bodies decreases. Collagen is what keeps our skin smooth, plump and youthful. A decrease in production equals fine lines and wrinkles. Microneedling uses vertical insertions to create tiny punctures in the skin’s surface.
What makes Micro-Needling Different?
Microneedling uses a specialised, automatic spring-loaded wand which delivers fast, easy and essentially painless treatments for the individual. This technology ensures the highest quality treatment with minimal damage, downtime and discomfort, while its adjustable speed and depth customise each procedure for specifically targeted results.
Micro-needling FAQ’s
Q – Is this treatment safe?
A – Microneedling treatments are performed by a trained and qualified therapist who will execute the treatment under a safe and sterile environment. All treatment consumables are single-use and sterile.
Q – How long does the procedure last?
A – Full face should take a maximum of an hour to complete. Body areas can take longer depending on the size and condition of the skin
Q – Is the treatment painful?
A – There may be some discomfort during this treatment and most likely bleeding will occur. Your therapist will set the needle depth and speed to your comfort level.
Q – Are there any side effects?
A – In the first 48 hours after treatment, you may experience redness, swelling and itching. However, a cooling mask is used straight after treatment to help calm and soothe the area.
Q – What is the downtime for Microneedling?
A – Erythema may last up to a maximum of 2 days post-treatment. However, most clients can resume daily activities immediately after Microneedling. If there is any visible redness, makeup may be used 24 hours after the treatment to reduce this.
Q – How soon will I see results?
A – Results after the procedure should be seen immediately after just one treatment. However, depending on the individual, skin condition and area being treated multiple sessions are recommended in order to achieve the full desired effect. The regenerating process should continue up to 24 months after treatment.
